Patch testing is the process that detects allergic dermatitis from some factor that you may have contacted at home, at leisure or at work. It involves applying patches with test substances in small chambers or discs to your back. These patches are secured with hypoallergenic tape. No needles are involved. Patch testing does not test for urticarial hives or food allergies.
